Sunday Sermon Summary – Mar 22 2026
More than we can ask or imagine
Jesus and Lazarus John 11: 1 – 15
In this familiar scripture passage we read that Jesus brought back Lazarus to life after he was dead for four days.
1. Invite Jesus
Luke 10: 38
It all began when Martha met Jesus who was visiting her town, Bethany. The Bible says that Martha invited Jesus to her home. Martha and her sister Mary were very hospitable to Jesus. Jesus visited them multiple times. Our spiritual journey begins with inviting Jesus. First, we must invite Jesus into our heart as our personal Saviour and be born again. Following that we must invite Jesus into all our activities of every day. We must invite Jesus in our work, in our challenges and in our joys. We must teach our children to invite Jesus at every meal we have.
2. Inform Jesus
John 11: 3
The Bible says that Lazarus became ill. The sisters sent word to Jesus saying that the one Jesus loved was sick. They made sure to inform Jesus. Maybe they thought that it was just a fever and that their brother will be well. Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick but stayed in His place two more days. It is important to inform Jesus even insignificant matters. Involve Jesus in everyday life. Let Jesus know what we are planning. In everything with thanksgiving, we must take our petitions to Jesus. We have no control over some situations, but we know that Jesus has control over all situations. Jesus is not our last hope He is our only hope. When we commit everything to Jesus, we can be at peace whatever the outcome is.
3. Intercede to Jesus
John 11: 21, 22
After two days Jesus informed his disciples that Lazarus was dead. The disciples would have been in deep shock. When Jesus came to Bethany, the people who were gathered at their house said that Jesus should have come early to save Lazarus from death. Even Martha had Mary said the same thing. Jesus wanted them and everyone who hears that story that Jesus can bring back to life even after four days. This is the reminder that Jesus will bring back all the dead to life. At this time both sisters intently interceded to Jesus. They were very broken. There are times in our life when we must intercede to God. Interceding is to cry out to God. Interceding is to fast and pray. Interceding is to pray for a long time.
The Lord Jesus told Martha, “Martha did I not tell you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?” Our God wants us to receive more than we can ask or imagine. If we want to be blessed, then we must invite Jesus, we must inform Jesus and we must intercede to Jesus. Amen
