Sunday Sermon Summary – Dec 07 2025
A CHOSEN VESSEL – JOHN
John the Baptist was the only chosen person by God to be the forerunner of the Advent of Christ. There were other witnesses; like the shepherds, the wise men, Simeon and Anna, but only John was the forerunner.
1. Set Apart
John was filled with the Holy Spirit even before he was born. Luke 1:15
The holy Bible says that John was filled with the Holy Spirit even when he was in his mother’s womb. That is why he leaped with joy from the womb when he heard Mary’s greetings to Elizabeth. We the Church will be filled with the Holy Spirit when we experience the Pentecost. We are the forerunners of Christ’s second Advent. People will know that we are filled with the Holy Spirit when they see the manifestation of the fruit of the spirit in us as seen in Galatians 5: 21 & 22
2. Set Above
John is greatest of those born of a woman Matthew 11:11
Jesus said that John is the greatest of those born of a woman. He is the greatest because he was appointed by God even before his birth. His ministry was foretold in the Old Testament by the prophet. We, the Church are the greatest when we testify to our Lord’s second Advent. We will never be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We bear witness to His second coming in glory at the sound of the trumpet. He will keep His promise to return to the earth as Lord and judge.
3. Set Ahead
John had the spirit and power of Elijah
Malachi 4:5. Luke 1:17
John ministered in the spirit and power of Elijah. Malachi 4:5 also testifies to this. The Old Testament closes with the promise that Elijah will be the forerunner; that is John the Baptist. We, the Church do not go in the spirit and power of Elijah; we go in the spirit and power of our Lord Jesus Christ. He laid down all His glory and came down to earth to save us, so God has given Him a name above all names that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow. There is power and victory in the name of Jesus. Let us bring down everything that tries to hinder us from being forerunners of the second coming of Jesus. We will go forward in His name and in the power of His might. Amen
