Everything is okay when Jesus Christ is our Saviour

Luke 16: 19-31
In this parable, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ taught us the importance of belonging to Him. He taught us that we must be more concerned about where we spend eternity than anything else.

1. It is okay to be poor
In this parable Jesus spoke about two men. One was very rich, and the other was very poor.  The rich person did not care for the poor man who sat at his gates wishing to eat the leftovers.  The poor man died and was taken to heaven. Jesus said that he sat at the bosom of Father Abraham. He was consoled by Abraham.  The rich man also died but he landed in hades where there was unquenchable fire.  Jesus teaches us that it is okay to be poor if we know where we will be for eternity. Safe in the arms of Jesus.

2.  It is okay to be unwell

In this parable Jesus also said that the poor man was not only poor he was also unwell. He had sores over his body and the dogs licked the sores.  This is an unimaginable situation for him. Nevertheless, his pain and agony were only temporary. He was relieved of it when he died and then he was in a place beyond comparison.  He was in the most beautiful place in God’s presence. Whereas the rich man who lived an enjoyable life was now in torment and pain.  Jesus teaches us that it is okay to be unwell as long as we know that eternal life is awaiting us. The apostle Paul healed many people; but in

2 Corinthians 12 we read that he had a thorn in his flesh. He prayed three times for God to deliver him. But God did not deliver him; instead, God assured him that His grace is sufficient for him and that in his weakness His strength will be made perfect.

3.  It is okay to leave this world

We all know that some day our time will come for us to leave this earth.  King Hezekiah cried to God when he was terminally ill. God heard his prayer and added fifteen years to his life. Isaiah (38:12) After fifteen years he died.  Our Lord teaches us that it is okay when our time to leave this world comes, as long as we know where we will spend eternity. It is the most important assurance that we need. After His resurrection our Lord assured us that He is coming back; and at His return all the dead will be resurrected.  May we be strong in our Lord and follow Him faithfully in all situations.  Amen!
