Revelation of Miracles

Mark 7: 31-37

During his earthly journey our Lord Jesus Christ healed many people. He healed them in various ways.  According to the scripture passage in Mark 7: 31-37 Jesus healed a deaf and dumb person in a unique way.

1.  Miracles are not magic. It is an Expression of God Himself

The Holy Bible reveals that miracles are the very attributes of God. God revealed his sovereignty in creation, in sending His Son to die vicariously on the cross and by transforming our lives into a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) So when we belong to God, we will also inherit miracles. We cannot separate God and miracles. During His earthly ministry Jesus always performed miracles.

A good example of magic and miracles is seen in the courts of Pharaoh. Moses performed miracles, the magicians performed magic.

2.  Miracles are not a reward for spirituality;  It is an Expectation of faith

God calls us to believe in him. Our deep commitment to spirituality does not guarantee miracles. Many godly people have suffered great pain and loss; like Joseph Scriven who was a committed Christian yet suffered a lot and out of his suffering he composed the song, What a friend we have in Jesus.  God calls us to exercise faith which is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1) In many situations Jesus said that if you believe you will see the glory of God.

3.  Miracles are not to boost our pride.  It is an Experience of God’s grace

Jesus spoke to the people who witnessed the miracle and told them not to publicize it.  We see many people who are blessed with the gift of performing miracles using their gifts to advertise themselves.  Jesus teaches us that when we experience God’s power in our lives. When we witness miracles, we must yield to God and acknowledge His grace on us.  The more we witness God’s goodness, the more we must be propelled to be thankful, recognizing His grace.

May our Lord help us to enjoy God’s goodness and grace and be thankful.  Amen
