LIVING IN PEACE
Ephesians 2: 11-18

In the above passage the epistle to the Ephesians explains how we can enjoy peace through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

1. Jesus Broke enmity and became our Peace
Ephesians 2: 14

Jesus is the very embodiment of peace. His Messianic name is Prince of Peace.  Everything God does is to bring about peace between God and humans.  In His omnipotence Jesus broke the wall of enmity. He left his heavenly glory, came down to earth and became our peace.  So, peace is not a state of mind; on the contrary it is a state of being itself.  If we have Jesus in us, we will have peace within us.  Ephesians 3:17 states that by faith Christ lives in us.

2.  Jesus Binds us together and makes Peace
Ephesians 2: 15

Jesus also binds us together in peace. Where Jesus reigns there will be peace. He made peace by yielding his body to be broken for us. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our peace.  By His sacrifice Jesus brought peace to us that could not be otherwise possible.  When we moved away from God, we lost peace as Cain who killed his brother Abel.  Through Jesus we overcome divisiveness and enjoy peace. In the upper room discourse Jesus told His disciples that he was speaking with them that they would have peace with Him. John 16:33

3.  Jesus Breathes (preaches) Peace and makes us one spirit with the Father
Ephesians 2: 17

Jesus also breathes peace. Scripture says that He preached peace.  The peace that the world does not know.  The church has this commission to preach peace.  Each of us must inherit God’s peace and that peace will overflow in our gatherings and wherever we go.

May we, God’s people proclaim peace wherever we go and fulfil God’s purpose for His Church. Amen
