Sunday Sermon Summary – June 09 2024

Posted on: June 11th, 2024 by St. Bede Anglican Church

Is God working through you!

How do you know!!

Whenwe follow our Lord faithfully and God begins to use us by the power of His Holy Spirit we may expect everything to go well; but in the life and ministry of Jesus we see that when Jesus healed the sick and released people of satanic possession, he was blamed and persecuted by the religious leaders and his family members.

1.  Crazy

He is out of his mind

Mark 3: 21

The Bible says that his own people said that he is out of his mind.  They called him crazy.  When God is using you everyone may not rejoice. There will be those close to you who will say that you are crazy. They will sometimes talk behind your back and say that you are out of your mind.  God’s work may seem crazy to many people.  It will look crazy to see us come to church regularly and be committed to the purpose of the Gospel.

2.  Crafty

He is a friend of Satan

Mark 3: 22

The Bible says that the scribes who came from Jerusalem said that Jesus was demon possessed and that he was able to perform such miracles because he has the help of the chief demon, Beelzebul.  It was the worst accusation against Jesus.  Jesus told the people that any sin will be forgiven, but the sin against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.  When God’s power is revealed through your ministry; people will accuse you of being evil.

Jesus teaches us that we must be strong and keep doing what God commands us to do.

3. Counterfeit

He is nothing special

Mark 3. 33

As Jesus was speaking to the people, some came and informed him that his siblings and mother were waiting outside for him. Jesus did not leave but he said, “Who are my siblings and mother? Those who do the will of my Father are my siblings and mother”.  John 7:5 says that even his own brothers did not believe him.  Nevertheless, they believed when Jesus rose from the dead.  During his ministry his family did not believe that he was the Son of God.  To them Jesus was an ordinary person trying to impersonate himself as God.  When God is using us even our own family will treat us badly.

These are the indications that God is using us for his glory.  We must be bold and pursue our calling.  Jesus has set an example for us to follow.

Jeremiah 1:19 “They will fight against you; but they will not prevail against you. I will be with you to deliver you”

May we continue to follow the purpose of our calling keep shining for Jesus.  Amen
