Broken spirits, broken bodies

Posted on: July 10th, 2020 by St. Bede Anglican Church

Last week as we explored the power of Sin and the internal conflicts we have within ourselves.

As St. Paul wrote of the universal problem “I do not do what I want but I do the very thing I hate”.

This inner conflict and dialogue within our minds is real – but Paul being very wise to human nature knows that the conflict we have with our minds and how we relate to God is only one part of the problem.

We also run into issues with our bodies and God.

How we see ourselves, how we relate to ourselves, how we physically see one another all also affect how we see and understand God.

And it should come to no surprise that our sin and pain damage not only our minds but also our bodies as well.

Many people have argued that Romans 8 is the pinnacle of the New Testament  and this week we delve into the first 11 verses of this chapter and explore the mind/body – Spirit/flesh connection and how Christ again comes to set us free.

Join us on Sunday to hear more!
