Message from Pastor Jennifer: Why all endings are new beginnings

Posted on: November 8th, 2019 by St. Bede Anglican Church

This Sunday, as with every Sunday, we gather we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord.  It has been said that Every Sunday is a little Easter as we gather on the first day of the week in celebration that this was the day that Jesus rose from the dead.

In our popular culture we sometimes think that Sundays are the end of the week not the beginning but as promised in the resurrection – all endings are but new beginnings.  The resurrection promises a new start, a clean slate and fresh hope for whatever ails us.

The resurrection is the central aspect to our faith -as St. Paul writes in the letter to the Corinthians “if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain” (1 Cor 15:14).   Jesus taught about his resurrection during his lifetime but he wasn’t always listened to or understood.

This week we explore a debate between him and the Sadducees regarding the resurrection.  Come join us to hear the words of our Lord about this central aspect of our faith and how it still challenges us today.
