100-palm sunday

We’re committed to increasing our direct outreach to our neighbourhood. Our efforts are focused on three areas – poverty, homelessness and housing, welcoming new immigrants and partnering with a local food bank.

Some of our work over the past year has included delivering food to the elderly and others as part of Meals on Wheels programs, and spending time providing companionship. We’ve also delivered Toronto Star gift boxes at Christmastime and worked in the warehouse for Holiday Helpers, which brings gifts to families in need.

We’re always looking at ways to increase our advocacy for social justice by building alliances with groups such as ACORN, which provides and is working on housing for all.

Prayer Group

Prayer is the way we communicate with God and how we are able to express to our creator the things that are most pressing on our hearts.

On the first Friday evening of each month at 7pm a small group gathers in our chapel for a time of praise and prayer.

We start with a time of praise giving thanks for the blessings we have, then lift up the needs of the world, the community, the congregation and pray for each other as well.

In our congregation we pray for each member by name twice a year in our services and in our prayer group.  We also keep a monthly prayer sheet where we include the names of those in need of special prayer.

We are a community rooted in prayer and open to the directing of the Holy Spirit.

The Choir at St Bede’s is blessed with a committed and talented group of singers. We are a mixed voice choir singing both traditional and modern contemporary music.

The church is also blessed with a talented group of instrumentalists and worship leaders who lead the congregation during a time of Praise and Worship every Sunday.

Aside from simply leading the music on Sunday mornings by invitation. our choir has participated in musical events around the city.  They cumulate the year with a spectacular Christmas Cantata each year.

The parish that plays together, stays together!

When we’re not in the worship space or downstairs enjoying fellowship, you can often find members of St. Bedes on the field. This includes our cricket team, which has competed in an inter-church Anglican tournament.

We also love baseball, and jointly run a team with our neighbouring parish of Christ Church Scarborough: The CCSB BATTITUDES! We welcome players of all levels 13 and up and usually practice on Tuesdays.
