Church of St. Bede Centenary Concert

A musical evening with Clement Vedanayagam Sastriar

Dear Beloved Church Family,

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

This is in continuation to my announcement in church this week. We as the St. Bede congregation are getting ready for the next big event to mark our year-long centenary celebrations! The Centenary Steering Committee has done the groundwork for a grand musical concert on May 11, 2024 at 6:00pm.

This will be a large public event that will bring to the people of Ontario a harmonious blend of the rich musical heritage of South India with popular western classical music. This 90 minute concert will feature the well-known musician Clement Sastriar, admired worldwide for his renditions of traditional Tamil Christian worship songs (Keerthanais) while expounding their meaning in English. He will be accompanied by a line up of skilled musicians.

We have 3 months to get ready for this momentous event which will be a testament to our church’s commitment to celebrating diversity, culture, and the unifying power of music. The Steering Committee needs the help of every single congregation member to make this a reality. The venue chosen for the event is the Chinese Alliance Church in Markham, with a capacity of 400 people. Each of us must work diligently to create a successful, and more importantly, blessed evening for hundreds of people around us.

How You Can Contribute:

Volunteer: Successfully organizing an event of this nature requires detailed planning and execution. Sign up for tasks where you can make an impact and provide valuable contribution.

Suggest Sponsors: An event like this also requires significant funds, and our aim is to get sponsors who will back us up with financial support. Think about businesses or individuals who can contribute financially.

Spread the Word: Share the news of the Centenary Concert with your friends, family, and colleagues. Get your network excited about the event. You will soon get resources for invitations and promotions. 

Attend the Concert: And last but not the least , plan to attend! Mark your calendars to be there for an uplifting evening of music and to host a memorable St. Bede’s event.

Together, let us make this Centenary Concert a resounding success and a testimony to the love and faith that has sustained our church for 100 years.
