Sunday Sermon Summary – Nov 09 2025
Remembrance Sunday – Fulfilling the Father’s Will
John 6: 37-40
Jesus spoke to the multitude who were following him and He explained three important points about the Father’s will.
1. Sacrifice : John 6: 38
The first thing Jesus pointed out was His deity. Jesus said that He came down from heaven to do the Father’s will, not his. Jesus is the second person of the Godhead. Philippians 2 says that Jesus did not think that being equal to the Father was something to hold on to. He emptied himself and took up the likeness of man and lived among us. The will of the Father was for Jesus to give His life as a sacrificial lamb. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. It costed God the sacrifice of His Son for us to be set free from sin. Jesus was willing to do only the Fathers will not his when He was in this world.
2. Salvation: John 6: 39
Jesus continued to say that the Father’s will is that not even one should be lost. Our salvation is our Father’s will. We need to have the assurance of our Salvation. When do we receive salvation? We need to ask ourselves whether we receive salvation at our baptism or at our confirmation. Those of us who have received salvation will be kept safe in Jesus. Jesus assures us that not even one will be lost. Jesus said that it is not the will of our Father in heaven that even one should perish Matthew 18:14.
3. Sanctification: John 6: 40
Salvation gives us the assurance of eternal life. Jesus said in verse 40 that all those whom the Father has chosen will rise up again. Jesus will rise them up and give them eternal life. We are called to stay close to God and be transformed more and more into His image. We could be sinning very often and asking God’s forgiveness; but as we drew closer to God, we will be more than over comers. So we live a sanctified life every day. We live with the assurance that heaven awaits us. This life is temporal. We wait for an exciting life that will be eternal. Therefore, we live rejoicing even in suffering knowing that we will have eternal joy in God’s presence. Amen!
