Sunday Sermon Summary – June 08 2025
TEN DAY CHALLENGE
Sustainable Church Development
Today we celebrate the day of Pentecost. Pentecost means fiftieth. On the fiftieth day after His resurrection, our Lord sent the Holy Spirit upon his people who were faithfully waiting for God’s promise
1. Inspired
Luke 24: 53
They were consistent in prayer!
After Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples waited faithfully for tens days. God invites us to wait in His presence. To have a solitary time with Him. When we wait as the disciples did, we will be inspired by God. God will reveal himself to us and prompt us in His will. We have a busy schedule; our lifestyle has changed a lot over the centuries, and we have a tight schedule every day. We find it difficult to find time to be in solitude with God. Nevertheless, God’s word calls us to spend time in solitude in His presence to receive divine inspiration.
2. Increased
Acts 1:15
They were 120 in the upper room!
The ten days that the disciples spent in the upper room changed many things. Those ten days prepared them for the birth of the Church. The day of Pentecost is the day of the birth of the Church. When they waited, they began to increase. On the day of the ascension there were only eleven of them, but on the day of Pentecost, we read that they were 120 on whom God poured out His Holy Spirit. We have begun working on Sustainable Church Development process. The main purpose of the process is to see church growth. If we want to see church growth, we must first spend time alone with God.
3. Intentional
Peter spoke boldly quoting scripture!
Acts 2: 14-16
The Bible says that when the apostles and others were filled with the Holy Spirit, they were bold to preach God’s word. Peter along with the apostles stood up and spoke God’s word. Peter quoted from the prophets and psalms with eloquence. When we spend time in preparation in God’s presence, we will see the mighty working of God. On the day of Pentecost the place shook, there was a mighty wind, and cloven tongues of fire appeared. Then all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, they spoke in other tongues, and they preached boldly. At the end of the preaching over 3000 people were converted and baptized.
May God help us to wait in His presence and receive His abundant blessings. Amen
