THE  REIGN  OF  CHRIST  John 18: 33-37

In this scripture passage, Jesus was standing before Pilate for trial. Jesus revealed his purpose of incarnation.

1.  According to His Incarnation

King of the Jews – John 18: 33, 34

Pilate asked Jesus if he was the king of the Jews. Jesus answered him with a question as he always did. Jesus asked him if he was asking this question or did someone tell him to ask. Jesus was actually the heir to the throne.  He was from the line of David.  Over the centuries, they became carpenters from being king.  Herod was not the real king of the Jews.  Jesus was the only perfect sacrifice for the whole world.  Only in Jesus all the prophecies are fulfilled.  Jesus was at the point of becoming the perfect sacrifice as he stood before Pilate.  The personification of God’s love without compromising his justice is Jesus Christ. In Christ alone we have salvation because he satisfied the righteous justice of God.

2.  According to His Pre incarnation

King of heaven – John 18: 36

According to his pre incarnation Jesus was the king of heaven.  Jesus spoke about it to Pilate. He said that his kingdom was not from this world. If his kingdom was from this world his servants would fight for him. Jesus has eternally been the king of heaven. In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God. Everything that was created; seen and unseen were created by him and for him. He did not hold on to be equal to God; but emptied himself and took upon himself the similitude of a man. In His pre incarceration Jesus is king of heaven. Therefore, we come into his presence with reverence.

3.  According to His Post incarnation

King of heaven and earth – John 18: 37

Finally, Jesus spoke with Pilate and explained to him that he had a purpose in coming into the world.  He came into the world to save the world from the tyranny of Satan. To deliver us from the punishment of sin.  The only truth is Jesus is the Saviour of the world, and we receive salvation by believing in Him.

After his resurrection Jesus is the king of heaven and earth.  He rules over the world. There is no end to his kingdom.  He will visibly return to judge the world. He will fight the war of Armageddon and will put Satan into the bottomless pit forever.

Jesus is Lord!! When we see him, we will have eternal joy.   Amen!
