WINNERS – Ephesians 6: 10-20

The above passage teaches us about winning in all circumstances.  God’s people are winners because God’s purpose for us is to win.

1. Be strong – COURAGE – Ephesians 6: 10

The Word of God calls us to have courage.  Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  Winners must always be bold.  We know whom we have believed, and we are convinced that he is able to keep what we have committed to him against that day.  The Lord tore down the stronghold of the enemy when he died on the cross and made an open spectacle of it.  Our Lord gave himself as a sacrifice that we may be winners.  Our Lord is omnipotent so we, His followers must be bold in all situations including painful situations.  God’s Word calls us to have courage in all circumstances.

2.  Put on the whole armour – CAUTIOUS – Ephesians 10: 11

These two verses call us to put on all the six pieces of spiritual armour because our battle is not just against flesh and blood but against principalities and evil powers in the heavenly places.  We who are called to be winners must constantly be cautious that we gird ourselves with the full armour of God so that, having done everything we will be able to stand.  Every part of the spiritual armour is necessary for us to be winners. Our courage must combine with the full armour of God. Only then can we win all our battles and be victorious.

3.  Pray always – CONFIDENCE – Ephesians 6: 18

Finally, the Word of God reminds us to be fervent in prayer. Only prayer will give us confidence in tough situations. When we have committed all our challenges to God in prayer, we can be confident that He will take care of our problems. Many of us have a busy schedule each day and we find it difficult to take time for prayer.  We must go to God in prayer every single day.  We must pray for others who are facing adversity. We must remember our loved ones who need our prayers. Our prayer life will determine how we live as winners with confidence.

“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!  Oh, what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear!  All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer”.  Amen
