Sunday Sermon Summary – Sept 21 2025
Path towards abundance – Smart Investments
Luke 16: 1-13
Our Lord Jesus Christ always used parables when he preached. This is a unique parable that has raised controversy among many Christians. In this parable Jesus said to his disciples that an unfaithful servant who was being fired from his job tried to manipulate the accounts of his boss. At the end of the parable Jesus concluded by inviting his disciples to be faithful.
Meticulous
1. Faithfulness in little things
Luke 16: 10
We may consider some things as little things; but they may be very important things in fact. Our Lord will bless us according to how meticulous we are in dealing with little things. David was caring for his father’s sheep. Every single sheep was precious to him. He was willing to lay down his life for the sheep. God honoured him by anointing him as king over Israel. In our work we are called to be faithful in little things. In our home we aught to be careful even about our little ones that we bring them up in the knowledge and admonition of the Lord.
Integrity
2. Faithfulness in wealth
Luke 16: 11
Jesus mentioned about wealth in this parable as unrighteous wealth. People earn money through various means. But God calls us to be faithful with our wealth. We may be so concerned with our wealth that we become unfaithful in what we need to give to God. Jesus said that if we are not faithful with unrighteous wealth how can we be faithful with eternal wealth. So, we are reminded to be faithful with all we earn. Jesus said that we aught to give what is Caesar’s to Caesar and give to God what belongs to God. When we are faithful with the little wealth we have; God will trust us with great wealth.
Diligent
3. Faithfulness in what belongs to others
Luke 16: 12
The third thing Jesus told his disciples was to be diligent in what belongs to others. Jesus said that his disciples had to be careful when they used borrowed things. This parable is more suitable for the time of Jesus, about 2000 years ago when people would usually borrow things from their neighbors. Nevertheless, Jesus teaches us that when we are faithful with what belongs to others, it will be a path towards abundance. The Lord is able to lift us up to unimaginable heights. Our workplace is a good example of what belongs to others. We must be faithful even when no one is watching us.
May our Lord bless us with abundance as we continue to be faithful in things that seem insignificant. Amen!
