Sunday Sermon Summary – May 11 2025
THE SUPREME LOVE OF JESUS
Today we celebrate Mother’s Day, so we will meditate on the supreme love of Jesus that surpasses mother’s love.
1. We are Pampered
Father, I thank you that you hid from the wise and revealed it to babes. Matthew 11:25
After the disciples returned from their ministry; they recounted to Jesus the exciting experience they had. After hearing them Jesus thanked the Father that he had revealed such deep truth to the disciples. The truth about God is hidden from the wise and the prudent. Jesus addressed his disciples as babes. We are so pampered by God. He sees us as babes when we believe His Word.
2. We are Protected
Little children, I will be with you for a little while longer. John 13: 33
During the upper room discourse Jesus spoke to the eleven disciples after Judas had left. He was concerned that he will be leaving them soon. He addressed them as little children. He comforted them by saying that he will come back to them. In chapter 14 Jesus told them, “Let not your hearts be troubled”. Jesus was protective of his disciples. He was preparing them for a great ministry after his ascension. These eleven men were going to spread the gospel all around the world. Jesus loved each of them deeply.
3. We are Pardoned
Children do you have any food?
John 21: 5
Jesus had shown himself twice to his disciples after his resurrection. Nevertheless, Peter and six others went back to their old profession of fishing. They caught nothing throughout the night and were returning to the shore. Early in the morning Jesus stood at the shore and asked if they had any food. They answered no. Jesus asked them to throw the net on the right side. In this passage Jesus addressed his disciples as children. Though they had forgotten everything that Jesus taught them, still Jesus called them children. After breakfast Jesus asked Peter if he loved him more than these.
Jesus loves us beyond comprehension. He calls us his children.
As we think of mother’s love today let us remember Jesus’ love for us that is supreme. Amen!
