Sunday Sermon Summary – Nov 10 2024
THE CHOSEN John 6: 37-40
On this Remembrance Day God gives assurance of salvation to all his followers. We are most blessed if we are in Christ.
1. We will not be cast out John 6: 37
No discrimination
Jesus was speaking to the multitudes explaining to them that he was the Messiah sent by God the Father. He said that he will never reject anyone who comes to him. There is no discrimination with God. He loves everyone equally. All we need to do is to come to him. God invites people of all nations and cultures into his fold. We can be best assured that we have a place in the annals of God.
2. We will never be lost John 6: 39
No disappointment
Jesus said that all whom the Father has chosen will come to him and not even one will be lost. This verse seems to imply eternal security of salvation; but scripture teaches us that those who are true followers of Jesus will never be lost. Even when we move away from God, he will draw us to himself. In the parable of the lost son, we see that the father waited for him to return. When the son was famished, he realized that being at home with his father was the best place to be. When we are close to God, we will realize that in all situations the best place to be is close to our heavenly father.
3. We will enjoy everlasting life
John 6: 40
No dissatisfaction
Jesus promises all his followers eternal life. He said that he will raise them up in the last day. In this world we have many things that make us happy, but we also have situations that make us sad. This life is only for a short period. When God raises us up we will be with him forever. We will be like Him, and we will have eternal joy. Jesus will wipe away all tears from every cheek. Our ultimate goal in this life is to prepare for our eternal life that is awaiting us. Nothing can compare with that joy that is kept for us. We will walk on streets of gold and continually praise and worship our Lord who has made us his people. Amen!
