Building Blocks to Success 

Genesis 22: 1-18 Matthew 10: 40-42 

The first book of the Holy Bible gives us clear directions on how we can move forward in success through the life of our patriarch and father of faith, Abraham. We see three building blocks in Abraham’s life that eventually led him to unspeakable success. The world will always remember Father Abraham.  

1. Turn the unknown into the Known  

Genesis 12:1; Hebrews 11: 8 

God called Abraham when he was seventy-five years old and without children. His grandfather Nahor and his father Terah were idol worshipers. Idol worshippers always had names and images for every god. But the Lord who had no name or image called Abraham and asked him to go wherever He would send him and promised him abundant blessings. Abraham was willing to go, not knowing where he was going. When God calls us to places or situations we do not know we must just trust Him realizing that He is faithful to guide us in every step of the unknown.  

2. Turn the Weakness into Strength 

Genesis15: 2 & 3; Hebrews 11: 11 

The unknown God who called Abraham promised that He will bless him and make him a great nation. Abraham and Sarah, his wife, had no children. Abraham petitioned to God that he was without an heir and that Eliezer who was born in his house will become the hair. He was also unhappy that he and his wife were now too old to have children. But when God confirmed that he will be blessed with an heir he believed God’s promise and it was counted as righteousness to Abraham. When we are weak God makes us strong. Our weakness will not hinder God’s blessings on us. Our Lord is able to turn our weakness into strength.  We should not allow any weakness to hinder God’s blessings on us and on our generation.  

3. Turn the Passion into Purpose  

Genesis 22: 2; Hebrews 11:17 

When everything was going well for Abraham; the Lord appeared to him and commanded him to sacrifice his only beloved son, Isaac as a burnt sacrifice.  This would have broken Abraham’s heart; but the Holy Bible says that he took three of his servants and started off for a three-day journey to sacrifice his beloved son. He was willing to follow God’s command at any cost knowing that God was able to give back his son.  We may have many things we hold close to us.  Sometimes God may call us to let go of them.  When we are willing to let go, then God Is moved with compassion, and He will bless us more than we can ask or imagine.  Twice God called out to Abraham and confirmed His abundant blessings.  The Holy Bible reveals such things to us that we may be willing to give what God asks of us and receive from His abundance.  Amen
