Sunday Sermon Summary – June 14 2026

Impacting our world  

Matthew 9: 35-38 

Our Lord began a movement by training a few ordinary people. He transformed them into extraordinary people and through them He has impacted the world for about two thousand years.  

Right in the beginning of His ministry our Lord did three profound things that we see in today’s Gospel reading.  

1.  Preach: 

Go into the Community  

Matthew 9: 35 

We read the Jesus travelled to many towns and villages and preached the good news to everyone. He also healed them from diseases.  As we continue the ministry of the Lord, we are reminded to go out and share the good news to many people. During the time of Jesus, He had to physically go to many places.  In our present times we have various ways to communicate to people. We must use all kinds of communication tools to reach out to others and share God’s love. It is a mandate from God to preach the gospel.  We need to share the gospel in season and out of season.  

2.  Pity  

Be moved by Compassion  

Matthew 9: 36 

The Bible says that when Jesus saw the multitudes of people, He was moved with compassion for them because they were oppressed and were like sheep without a shepherd. His heart was filled with compassion for the lost souls. We see many similarities between us and those who are outside the faith in Jesus. We have common challenges like sickness and poverty and all other problems.  Nevertheless, the big difference is that we have hope and others do not have that hope. We know whom we have believed, and we are convinced that He is able to keep what we have committed to Him against that day. This calls us to have compassion for those who live without hope. We must be moved with compassion as Jesus did.  

3.  Prayer 

Pray to the Lord of the Harvest  

Matthew 9: 38 

Our Lord urged His disciples by saying that the harvest truly is plenteous, but laborers are few. Our Lord also gave them a strategy to increase laborers. He said, “Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest that He sends forth laborers.”  The foremost responsibility of the Church is to pray for more people to come forward to preach the gospel. Jesus has revealed to us that the Father is the Lord of the harvest. Every Christian has this responsibility to pray fervently for more people in the harvest. We may do many things to impact our world; but the most important thing is to pray. We can pray individually or as a family or corporately in the church.  

May our Lord stir our hearts to impact our world by preaching, by having pity, by praying.  Amen!
